This disorder normally affects the older population. The joints become rougher and this leads to pain, stiffness and swelling of the knee. Over time, patients can acquire a sort of lameness. With the worsening of the pathology, the pain becomes continuous, even at night, it can become difficult to extend the leg in a natural way or to kneel. In its early stages it is possible to relieve symptoms with pain killers or anti-inflammatories. Orthopedic aids can be useful to facilitate walking, furthermore rehabilitation and weight loss in order not to further aggravate the load on the joint, should be taken into consideration.
